Job Summary

The Pain Management Center Clinical Psychologist supports the Pain Management Center in managing the clinical functions of the pain psychological program. Under the direction of the Pain Management Center Medical Director, the psychologist is responsible for providing consultant psychological care to patients and day-to-day clinical care for patients. These modalities include group or individual psychoeducation and therapy. This position is responsible for delivering high quality Clinical Psychology services to UCSF Chronic Pain Service, working directly and indirectly with patients, families and with members of the multidisciplinary team and community services involved in the care of patients, to improve patient's psychological health, quality of life and reduce disability. This position meets the clinical psychological needs of the Pain Management Center including assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and utilizing knowledge of medical conditions, medications and psychological/behavioral factors and patient history. The Psychologist assists in long-term planning for the department and may revise/implement new procedures.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
* A Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program
* Completion of a full-time health psychology fellowship with pain psychology experience or two years of supervised experience in pain medicine
* A 12-month internship in Clinical Psychology including a successful completion of an APA-accredited internship or equivalent experience
* 1 year of experience in chronic pain management
* Knowledge of learning theory, behavioral medicine, and chronic pain with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy
* Experience that includes diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual/group psychotherapy and consultation and collaboration with medical personnel
* Experience in psychometric evaluation of chronic pain patients
* Demonstrated skills with Microsoft office products statistical packages and electronic literature searches for clinical and research purposes. Proficiency in MS office products is required
* Ability to use and chart in an electronic medical record for patient care management
* Demonstrates effective use of verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
* This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in medical office applications in billing and/or scheduling
* EPIC documentation experience
License/Certification
* License from the California State Board of Examiners of Psychologists within six months of hire
